Ed Tittel is a 30-year computer industry veteran with an interesting background. A Princeton and multiple University of Texas graduate, Ed started his academic career with undergraduate and graduate degrees in anthropology. Then, realizing the need for gainful employment, he moved into computer science, and has never looked back since starting his first programming job in 1981. Ed spent his first six years in the industry writing code, primarily for database-related systems and applications, and then switched from staring at a CRT to the softer side of the business, moving into management and marketing. From 1988 to 1994, he was employed in a variety of positions at Novell, initially at Excelan (which was acquired by Novell in June 1989). Since 1994 he’s been writing free-lance full-time, and has contributed to over 100 books and many thousands of Web and magazine articles. Ed’s probably best-known for creating the Exam Cram series of cert prep books for Coriolis in 1997 (he remained series editor until 2006). These days, Ed writes regularly and blogs for several TechTarget sites, PearsonITCertification.com, Tom’s Hardware and Tom’s Guide. He also develops all kinds of content (white papers, video scripts, e-books, and so forth) for customers that have included Symantec, Cisco, and Microsoft. His latest books include HTML, XHTML and CSS for Dummies (seventh edition) and CISSP Study Guide (fifth edition). For a complete bio, visit Ed’s Web page. |
